Home Sweet Home

I have now been back in the States for two months.  Following the end of my semester at Santa Reparata in late April, I backpacked through Morocco, Spain, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany for about a month.  Getting to see a variety of other countries besides Italy was an amazing experience, which I would highly suggest.  As long as you are abroad for a semester you might as well take the time to explore some other parts of the world that you are near.

Although initially I was scared of the idea of leaving my family and friends in Wisconsin for five whole months, I am so glad that I made the leap.  A study abroad is a once in a lifetime experience.  Yes, one can travel the world later in her life, but not for such an extended period of time.  I am so thankful that I got to travel the world in my early 20’s because I believe it has opened my eyes up to the different cultures of the world.  I feel that I have learned valuable skills, which have helped me to grow as a person and will help lead me to a successful future.

The hardest part about being back in the States is going back to work and not having a new and fun day trip to a foreign country to look forward to each weekend.  The one thing that keeps me going is the idea that one day I will be back in Florence…a place that I can now call my second home.
