Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary: A place that celebrities such as Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, former United States presidents and the former pope, have all visited just for one reason. It is the only place on earth at which a person can hold a koala.
Not only can a person hold and get their picture taken with a koala for only $18, but can also pet and feed kangaroos, wallabies, emus, and, well, hungry park ducks. All of these animals are kept together in a large, fenced-in area, walking freely about with the human visitors who come to see them. All are surprisingly tame and friendly (especially the emus) and visitors can spend an entire day just hanging out with them.. And don’t worry – there’s a no trespassing rest area for those animals that don’t want any human contact right now.
Besides feeding and taking selfies with these animals, which are only native to Australia, the zoo offers many other interesting animals that can rarely be seen anywhere else. These include things like exotic birds, lizards, snakes, dingos, wombats, tasmanian devils, platypuses, and a lot more. It is fascinating how many animals are unique to Australia.
Australia is full of life, and as the weeks turn warmer, and spring begins to bring even more of these creatures out of hiding, we just have to remember that all life is special, and this is their world too.
