As of today, I am officially done with 4th year Chinese and first semester of Chinese linguistics. I can’t believe how fast these past couple of months went, so fast to the point where I don’t even have time to miss home! They’re not kidding when they say that this is an intensive language program. From 4th year Chinese class alone, we had to study over 100 vocabulary words per night on top of daily homework, which was basically 300-character essays, and an hour of tutoring each day. If only I could have an external hard-drive for my brain to retain all of the new knowledge!
Our week-long break is finally here. I’ve been looking forward to this break all summer. Initially, I was going to travel around China and go sightseeing, but later I decided to go visit my relatives in Fuzhou instead. I only get to see them in person every couple of years, and my cousin just had a baby, so I figured this would be a great opportunity to see everyone again! Even though I leave Tianjin first thing tomorrow morning, I absolutely cannot wait to go to Fuzhou!
