I arrived in Florence nearly a week ago and am just catching my breath enough to sit down and write a post! Between the jetlag, time change, orientation and first day of classes, it has been overwhelming to say the least. But it’s been even better than I imagined!
Florence is so beautiful and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s big enough to feel like I’m definitely in a city, but quaint enough to where is doesn’t feel like I’ll be swallowed up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And the food?! There are no words! It’s just as amazing as everyone said it would be.
Our apartment is in a great location next to a bunch of shops, cafes, restaurants and wine bars. And the best part: we are on the same street as one of the most famous gelato places in Florence! It’s both a blessing and a curse to walk by amazing gelato everyday.
We began class on Monday and I think I’ll really enjoy all of my courses. I’m taking The Florentine Renaissance, Italian Food and Culture, Italian 101 and Wine Studies. No complaints there, right? I also like how in all of my classes I know at least one person from UW-Madison. It’s super comforting to see familiar faces in a new place!
Overall, it’s been a great first week here in Florence and I’m excited for what’s to come. I have a lot more exploring to do in this beautiful city and also can’t wait to start traveling to other places!
Stay tuned for more updates from my journey abroad!
