This past weekend I ventured out with a few friends to the Brecon Beacons and it soared past my expectations. I underestimated the weather as well. Wisconsin is known to have extreme, quick changing weather, but it doesn’t compare to how it is in Wales near the Brecon Beacons. A cycle of sunshine, cloudiness, and soft hail occurred about five times throughout the day, and the temperature was around 42 degrees Fahrenheit! Overall the day turned out beautiful! The waterfalls were breathtaking and the hike through the area required effort and focus. Throughout the hike, the landscape reminded me of the area around Devil’s Lake in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and immediately I felt a sense of homesickness, however I was happy to find similarities between Wisconsin and Wales. Brecon Beacons is about an hour away from Cardiff, but the drive is worth it! I will definitely be back to explore more trails in the area.
