A Spring Break to Remember

My program just had our spring break and it’s hard to believe that we’re half way through the semester! I don’t know whether to laugh or cry… I’m not ready to think about going home yet!

But my spring break was definitely one for the books. First of all, I was reunited with my parents! They came to visit a few days before the start of my break so they could experience Florence. It was awesome to show them around my new home. We did a great tour of the city, ate lots of good food, and spent a ton of quality time together. It felt like I hadn’t seen them in forever, but at the same time it felt like I had just left!

After spending a few days in Florence, we embarked on a week of adventure. First, we travelled to Krakow, Poland to visit family. It was so nice to catch up and spend time together. And Polish food is surprisingly amazing! I lost count of how many pierogis I ate that weekend, but it was definitely worth the extra calories!

After three days in Krakow, my parents and I travelled to Dubrovnik, Croatia. This was definitely a bucket list item for me and it did not disappoint. We lucked out and had amazing weather: 60 and sunny almost every day! It was a nice change of pace from the rainy weather I had been experiencing in Florence.

Dubrovnik is seriously one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. We explored Old Town, which some may know as King’s Landing in Game of Thrones! I personally don’t watch the show, but my dad went on a Game of Thrones tour and absolutely loved it.

My favorite part was climbing the wall around Old Town because we got to see the city from every angle. It seemed like every stop became more and more beautiful than the last!

It was also nice to just relax at a restaurant by the water and stick my face in the sun for a bit. It’s amazing what a little sunshine can do for the soul!

Overall, my spring break adventure was definitely one to remember, but what made it even more special was experiencing it with my parents. I am so lucky to have such amazing, supportive parents in my life who would travel all that way to come see me and then take me on the spring break of a lifetime! I am so grateful I got to spend that quality time with them and it’s definitely something that I’ll never forget.

Thanks for following along! I’m excited to see where the second half of this amazing journey takes me…

Ciao for now!
