How were your program academics similar or different from taking classes at UW-Madison?

My classes were all in Spanish at a local university with local students. I was often the only foreigner in the classroom. Classes were mostly lecture style and grades are generally based on one final exam.

I am most proud of making local friends and doing all my schoolwork in Spanish. It was a big confidence booster.

What is your advice for someone considering your program?

Be open to all new opportunities and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! Get involved; it may be scary, but it’s so worth it!

What is your most memorable experience from your program?

I was lucky to experience Seville’s iconic holiday celebrations, Semana Santa (Holy Week) and Feria (April Fair) after they were canceled for three years due to COVID. Seeing the community come together to celebrate after so long apart was such a treat!
