So my friend and I wanted to go to Chuncehon to see the Mime Festival, but it had already ended. Disappointed, we went to Namiseon Island which was nearby. It’s famous for a Korean drama that was filmed there called Winter Sonata. When we got there, we almost freaked out, because we saw that we needed to get a VISA to be able to go there. We didn’t have our passport, but luckily we had our alien registration card. If not, our trip there would have been a fail. We became curious because this island was called a Republic Island and was wondering when this island became its own territory away from South Korea. I looked it up and saw that it’s its own country, but an imaginary country. It declared itself a self governing country in 2006. It even has its own currency, stamp, and other stuff. The island was named after a general who was falsely accused of treason. I didn’t know this island had so much history to it and found it very interesting and educating to learn about something new of Korea.
After getting our ticket, we had to take a ferry across. It was very nature like. My friend and I walked around the whole island. There were even wild ostriches there!
