Chinatown is one of my favorite areas to try new food.

So far, living in London has been a great experience. While no day is exactly the same as the next, there are some similarities with each day. On a typical weekday, I wake up and head to class. I have a short walk to the tube station, and then about a twenty-minute tube ride to arrive at City University. This was a shock at first because I realized I have to leave much earlier for class than I would at Madison. After class I usually head back home to get some lunch and drop off my backpack before deciding what I will do next for the day. Some of my favorite afternoon activities are going on long walks, shopping, trying new foods, and simply exploring new areas I have never been to before.

London is such a big city and I never find myself at a loss of things to do. One way I have been connecting with the culture here is by trying new foods. The city has restaurants from all over the world, and I have loved trying new things that I don’t typically eat back in Madison. Some evenings, my friends and I will do different events like attend a show or try a new restaurant. Other evenings, I cook dinner at home and study before heading to bed. The unpredictability of each day has made this experience exciting, and I can’t wait to continue trying new things.

Major: Accounting

Program: IES Direct Enrollment – City St George’s, University of London

One reason why I chose my program was to enhance my global perspective. As a business major, it is essential to be globally aware. The London program will help me achieve this goal in particular, as London is among the world’s most internationally and ethnically diverse cities. I hope to gain a new cultural frame of reference.
