Italy: Elliana King (Top ten list: Florence)

The city of Florence, with its many buildings with red roofs and one tall, domed cathedral standing out in the center, is covered in a pinkish yellow glow from the sunset.

  1. N. Pasta Fresca stand at the Central Market: this stand makes the most amazing fresh pasta to take home and cook. My favorite is the lemon ravioli!
  2. RivaReno Gelateria: the best gelato spot that prepares fresh daily gelato with a variety of changing flavors.
  3. Piazzale Michelangelo: a viewpoint of the entire city. It’s a popular spot to watch the sunset.
  4. L’arte di Dory: a traditional Tuscan restaurant with a variety of pastas and the famous Florentine steak.
  5. Take a pasta making class: there are a variety of classes to take, so I definitely recommend taking the time to do this to immerse yourself within the culture while also having fun.
  6. Santa Maria Novella Basilica: a church in Florence that was constructed in 1279. It is one of the most detailed and breathtaking places I have ever been to.
  7. The Boboli Gardens: a park to just sit for a bit, read, or socialize with friends. A great break from the city and into nature.
  8. La Fettunta: a hidden gem that serves the lunch classic paninis of schiacciata bread with your choice of meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
  9. Riccardo Luci Marbled Paper: a shop full of souvenirs made from the craft of marbling that has been passed down four generations to the current store owner. You can also book a time to create your own marbling creations.
  10. Drink a cappuccino: Italians are very proud of their coffee traditions, so enjoy a cappuccino up at the bar like a local.
