University of Wisconsin–Madison

Czech Republic: Rebecca Plier

Program: CIEE Central European Studies in Prague, Spring

Rebecca’s Major: Communication Arts

How were your program academics similar or different from taking classes at UW-Madison?

Rebecca gives a peace sign in front of rocky formations, which separate her from a yellow castle.
Beautiful day visiting the Bohemian Paradise nature reserve in the Czech Republic

The academics on my program were a bit different from Madison as a majority of students took classes in the same building and there was a shared lunch hour each day. The class sizes were also smaller (due to the size of our program)–I never had a class with more than 15 students.

What is your most memorable experience from your program?

My most memorable experiences were traveling around Europe with my new friends and the city-wide scavenger hunt some fellow students put together for us to compete in at the end of our program. It was tons of fun!

How will your experience benefit you in the future? How might it affect your future career or studies?

I have definitely grown from this experience and I feel more capable to handle unexpected challenges. My internship experience also helped to hone some of my skills and gave me the opportunity to connect with professionals outside of the US.
