Hiking in a National Park in Covadonga. Breathtaking views and lots of cows I encountered! Feels like Wisconsin 👐

What is a custom, food or tradition from your host country that you are taking forward?

I really enjoyed the tapas at restaurants. I tried many foods in small portions which was great for medium/large groups. Moving forward, I’ll consider ordering just a few restaurant appetizers to split between me and my friends instead of getting individual plates.

What is your most memorable experience from your program?

My class went on a plant tour of a Bayer pharmaceutical site where they made the active ingredient in Aspirin. The process engineer did an excellent job of describing their equipment and providing reasoning as to why the company produced their product in a specific way. It paralleled the knowledge I gained in a previous class I took at Madison.

The program incorporates many activities outside of lab work such as industry tours and sightseeing which created a well-rounded cultural experience.
