How were your program academics similar or different from taking classes at UW-Madison?
The program academics were quite different from taking classes at UW-Madison. We went on many field trips, so we got to do a lot of experiential learning and were able to speak to people about their lived experiences. There were some traditional classes and assignments, but I felt as if my academic experience in the program was much more hands-on and engaging.
I was having the time of my life learning new things, meeting new people, and experiencing some of the most beautiful nature I’ve ever seen.

How will your experience benefit you in the future?
My experience made me more interested in pursuing a career in the environmental field. I learned a lot about the environmental problems faced by and created by agriculture and food production, and I would like to take more classes and learn more about these topics. Additionally, the program allowed me to meet a lot of new people from many different backgrounds, which will help me in the future as I work and collaborate with people who have different experiences from my own.
What is your advice for someone considering your program?
My advice is to go on this program! I was very nervous leading up to the program, and I was a bit overwhelmed upon arrival. However, after a few days, I was having the time of my life learning new things, meeting new people, and experiencing some of the most beautiful nature I’ve ever seen.
