England: Kinzie Carlson (My Favourite Course)

My Favourite Course

My favourite course this semester was called “Weird Victorian.” In this course, we learned about Queen Victoria, the British Empire, the key aspects of the Victorian era, and visited loads of awesome locations. Our instructor, Brian, filled our time with British treats and an interactive environment to learn about British history and culture.

In this course, we visited the British Museum, the Museum of the Home, and a museum in Oxford, we walked through many cemeteries seeing people who died saving others and Karl Marx, we saw historic markets and neighbourhoods, and we visited Brick Lane. Brian took us all around London, which is why this class was my favourite – learning about English history couldn’t be more hands-on than this. One of my goals for this year is to learn about English history and how it has influenced the world today, and this class has helped me do so in a very fun way.
