Spain: Will Fetting (Daily Life in Sevilla)

For my first blog, I wanted to give insight into my daily life in Sevilla. Depending on the day I wake up at either 8:00 or 10:00. In Spain, it is normal to eat a smaller breakfast so for me this normally looks like an apple or orange at my homestay with some toast. Almost every morning I walk across the street and order three chocolate croissants with a coffee before class. My business classes are taught completely in Spanish, which I was worried I would struggle with but the teachers are very understanding and I have picked up on the language and accent very quickly. After my morning classes, I return back to my homestay to eat lunch. This is normally the biggest meal of the day. Most days my family and I eat lunch while watching TV. While we eat I practice my Spanish speaking with my host father and mother. After lunch I usually take a short nap before going to the gym. Depending on the day, my evenings vary. During the week, I go to a cafe with my friends and work on a little homework. After finishing our work it is normal to get drinks and tapas most nights before dinner. Normally, my friends and I try to find a new place to eat every week. My family and I eat dinner much later than in the United States, which is normal for Spain. It definitely took some getting used to because normally dinner is at 9:30 every night. After dinner I will either meet up with my friends again or go to bed if I have early class.

I chose this program because of the rich history within the city of Seville. I have had a longtime personal goal of becoming fluent in Spanish. By the end of my program, I would like to accomplish this.
