How will your experience benefit you in the future? How might it affect your future career or studies?

This experience has provided me with an open mind and a greater appreciation for cultures all over the world. There is so much to learn, especially when it comes to global health and healthcare. As someone who is interested in the healthcare route, I have learned cultural humility and will implement that with future patients with different backgrounds that I will work with.

What is your most memorable experience from your program?

My most memorable experience from my program was staying in the village with a family in the mountainous terrain of Nepal.

What challenges or barriers did you face during your time abroad?

Language barrier was a barrier that I faced while going abroad, especially throughout the village stay. I have learned some phrases to get by, but very minimally. I would gesture a lot to help with communication.
