Switzerland: Moises Hernandez (Final Reflections)
When I was accepted into my study abroad program, my biggest fear was living in another country for over six weeks with people I had never met. As my study abroad program ends, however, I see how this experience helped me overcome my fears abroad and helped me learn more about myself and the field I want to dedicate my life to.

As I think about the past six weeks, I remember the fun memories I made with my fellow students, my connections with my host family, and my experiences. From exploring Switzerland to having dinner together, I learned how valuable spending time with others can be to creating memories that will last a lifetime. Visiting the World Health Organization Headquarters and the United Nations Office in Geneva, I learned how much I want to be a part of an organization that works to help others. Learning from professionals in psychiatry and health economics, I discovered more about topics I want to dedicate my career to, learning how healthcare systems around the world can improve and what has to be done for countless individuals to receive the quality healthcare they all deserve.
I will be forever grateful for the opportunities I had while in Switzerland. I will remember what I learned and apply it to my career. Most importantly, I will cherish those I met and keep the connections we have made.

One goal for my program is to apply the skills I learn to my future career seeking social justice in healthcare. One reason I chose this program was to learn more about healthcare systems worldwide in a place where international organizations are dedicated to public health, social justice, and sustainable development of healthcare. What I most look forward to learning about in my program city is how this culture compares to my culture at home and how it impacts the region’s healthcare systems and development policy.
