What is your most memorable experience from your program?

A memorable experience was the Fourth of July. I went with some of the program to the Capitol where we got to listen to some singers and enjoy the ambiance of the monuments. The sunset was super fun and I really enjoyed the fireworks. I thought it was pretty to see the fireworks against the monuments and I had heard and been told to go to the mall at least once, so I was glad to be able to cross if off my bucket list!

What did you learn about yourself or the world because of your experience?

Through all the guest speakers I got to listen to as well as speaking to my mentor, I decided I want to take a gap year between law school and college. Coming into the program I was still unsure about what to do but after hearing about lawyers who had gone through a similar path I was able to decide to take a year off, find a job and explore my passions.

The academics were also different in that we had a lot more guest speakers which I enjoyed because we got to learn about their experiences and their paths both from college to D.C.

How were your program academics similar or different from taking classes at UW-Madison?

It was similar in that we had “lectures” and assignments that consisted of essays and readings. However, because it was a much smaller class it had the intimacy of discussions which I enjoyed because I got to know my peers and make stronger connections with them.
