University of Wisconsin–Madison

USA: Cassidy Pamperin (Discoveries and Reflections)

As the program comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on how much I’ve learned and grown. Before this experience, I had never been to the East Coast, or really left the Midwest much at all. Washington, D.C. always seemed like a far-off, almost mythical place, where only the most important people worked and lived. Suddenly, I found myself walking those same streets, surrounded by monuments I’d only seen in pictures. From the very beginning, the program threw me into the deep end. It was exciting, a little overwhelming at times, but always meaningful. There were highs and lows, moments of doubt and discovery, but looking back, I can honestly say it was all worth it.

Wisconsin in Washington Badger BBQ! Being here has deepened my pride in my university and shown me just how impactful our network can be.

One of the most memorable parts of my experience was connecting with the UW–Madison alumni network. It amazed me how many alumni we ran into; sometimes just because of a sweatshirt, hat, or even a small pin on a jacket. Strangers became mentors in an instant, offering advice, encouragement, and genuine kindness. It made me realize how strong and far-reaching the Badger community truly is. Being here has deepened my pride in my university and shown me just how impactful our network can be. I’m leaving D.C. not only with new professional skills but also with a lasting sense of connection to my peers, to the alumni I met, and to UW–Madison itself.
