Australia: Natalie Brandt (Discoveries and Reflections)

As my study abroad experience comes to an end, I am struck by how much I have grown. Living in Sydney pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone, meet new people, and experience the world from a different perspective. It still feels so surreal that I can say I have lived in a different country! Sydney is one of the most vibrant places in the world; with something for everyone to do. I am so blessed to say I have had the experience of learning abroad and even being able to say I was able to do it with some truly amazing people.

With all the amazing opportunities I have had while in Australia, it is difficult to choose one lasting memory to talk about. One experience that immediately comes to mind is the most recent coastal walk I did. Being from the Midwest, I wanted to take full advantage of the ocean being right at my doorstep. These coastal walks have become part of my routine and are something I am blessed to have been able to experience. The sound of the waves, the cliffs, and beautiful sunrise painting the sky are all things I will cherish forever. On my latest walk, I was lucky enough to spot whales and a pod of dolphins. Seeing these magnificent creatures is a reminder of how special my time in Australia has been. While it is bittersweet to know I am going home in just a few short days, moments like these are what made my study abroad experience even more unforgettable.
