England: Anna Racine (Learning on Excursions)

In January, I went on a weekend field trip to Stonehenge and Bath, England. This field trip was a great opportunity for me to see what life is like outside of the bustling city of London. Our first stop was Stonehenge, which took about two hours to get to by bus. We walked around the world heritage site, and it was really cool to be up close to the stone monument. After this, we hopped back on the bus and headed to Bath. In Bath, we did a walking tour of the city and got to see several parts of the city including Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent, and the Circus.

One of the courses I am taking in London consists of touring London’s landmarks. The walking tour I did in Bath reminded me of that, as I was able to get a glimpse of Bath’s history by visiting different landmarks and learning how they came about. My favorite stop was Bath Abbey. The church was breathtaking on both the inside and outside. This field trip introduced me to several people, who I still hangout with back in London. A highlight for me was the amazing pizza I had at the Real Italian Pizza Company. This field trip was a great experience and only made my love for England grow.

Major: Accounting

Program: IES Direct Enrollment – City St George’s, University of London

One reason why I chose my program was to enhance my global perspective. As a business major, it is essential to be globally aware. The London program will help me achieve this goal in particular, as London is among the world’s most internationally and ethnically diverse cities. I hope to gain a new cultural frame of reference.
