Places: Routine & Favorite

Coming to London and learning to be more independent has led me to practice a more routine-oriented lifestyle. One of the major parts of my daily routine involves going to Pret a Manger, a café chain with a lovely location just a 10-minute walk from my housing. I subscribed to their Club Pret membership, which is a great way for uni students to save money since you get 5 drinks daily for 30 pounds per month– that’s only a pound per day! I like to go before and after my classes to study or relax. The baristas there know my order by heart: an iced chai latte with coconut milk. I find going to Pret is a great way to unwind, be productive, and connect with others.

My favorite place in London is Richmond Park. It’s the largest of London’s eight Royal Parks. It dates back to 1625, when King Charles I brought his court to the nearby Richmond Palace to escape the plague. He turned the land into a hunting park. Today, it is an amazing recreational park to walk or bike through, full of lush forests, rolling hills, and grasslands. Most famously, Richmond Park is home to a herd of 630 free-roaming deer which were first introduced to the land by Charles I in 1637. Deer-watching is my favorite thing to do in the park. It’s amazing to feel so immersed in wildlife only 6 miles from London’s center!
