Denmark: Eli Hyman (“We’re not in Madison Anymore” moment)
Denmark is really different than Madison. Nothing encapsulates this more than the clothing worn by Danes. Unlike American and Madison, no one wears Athleisure in Denmark. It is truly a remarkable thing. No matter what time of day or where they are going, Danes are sure to dress professionally, with coats and boots and scarfs. Even when going to the gym, Danes will wear jeans and coats. Comparing this to Madison, fashion is much more of an artistic expression. People wear their favorite designer brands, or thrifted band tee shirts to signify their interests and passions. The Danes are a proud and respectful people, and they don’t celebrate individualism the way Americans do. To Danes, dressing professionally is a sign of class, and it should be adhered at all times. This was truly a moment that made me stop and realize, I’m not in Madison anymore!
