Discoveries and Reflections

As I wrap up my time at the University of Leeds, I could not be more grateful to have had this opportunity. This has been such a period of personal growth and exploration. I have learned so much about the world, myself, and, of course, England.

One of my biggest goals going into this program was to learn about the legal institutions that shaped the United States’ justice system. The faculty, as well as my classmates, continuously challenged my previous assumptions about England’s legal history and pushed me to think from new perspectives. I am excited to bring these new ideas and perspectives home with me, both educationally and in my future professional career.

Apart from school, I also learned how to be comfortable in an unknown space, as well as continuously pushing myself to meet new people and try new things. Although, most importantly, I learned how to enjoy my own company. I had time in England to explore my thoughts and spend time by myself; something I do not get very often in the United States. I value this time and the knowledge I have gained while reflecting upon myself.

The city of Leeds was also an amazing place to learn and live. The campus is a mix of modern and historical buildings that are incredibly charming. The campus reflects the city at large. It is a lively and busy city, still infused with rich English culture and history. The faculty at the University of Leeds were also incredibly supportive and helpful every time I had an encounter. I am extremely happy with my decision to join this program.
