Denmark: Brenna Braun (Final Reflections)

Having the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen has been a rollercoaster of self-discovery and growth. I was so lucky to be able to come to this city and experience first-hand the beauty it has to offer. I loved walking along the water and colorful buildings of Nyhavn and the cozy Christmas markets where there are so many lovely food and gift huts. I also will miss the unique food markets of Reffen and Broens Gadekokken and the diverse number of food venders that never disappointed.

Academically, my time at the University of Copenhagen was unlike what I was accustomed to. The university hosted an academic atmosphere that was both rigorous yet sparked interest which was reflected in my coursework. Additionally, there were numerous events supported by the University that encouraged getting to know my fellow classmates and instructors. To add to this, the various other international and Danish students that I met helped broaden my perspective through their sharing of their thoughts and experiences. In the process, I know that I have made many lifelong friends.
Beyond the classroom, Copenhagen has been very significant in influencing my way of life. Most notably, being here has been transformative in changing how I balance my studies with my free time. More so, I learned the importance of setting aside certain times for studying and ridding it from my mind once that time has ended. I have also begun to value spending more time with loved ones especially as the days get darker and the weather gets drearier. Lastly, Copenhagen showed me how to enjoy the small things in my life like a good cup of coffee or a delicious pastry. Overall, this has been an amazing experience and I know I will forever reminisce on my days spent in Copenhagen.
