At UW-Madison I will be studying International Studies in the hopes of someday becoming a US Diplomat. While in London, I hope to experience a wide variety of cultures from the extremely diverse population and immerse myself in this new city while also learning about its deep history and current society. I am especially looking forward to learning about the political system of the UK as it is something I find fascinating! Excited to be a Global Launcher!

Natalie Elliott

Major: English

Hometown: Lake Forest, Illinois

One personal goal I have for this program is to branch out socially and subject myself to situations I wouldn’t have in high school. In high school, I was a lot shyer and more closed off with friends and peers than I expected myself to be. I am looking forward to being able to leave my comfort zone and better myself as a person.

I most look forward to learning about English literature in relation to the history of the area. As an English major, I love reading and writing creatively and I have no doubt that immersing myself in the rich history that the city has to offer will help enhance my writing and my understanding of literature.

Major: Political Science with a certificate in Psychology

Hometown: Madison, Wisconsin

One goal I have for this program is to grow academically and personally by stepping outside of my comfort zone and engaging with global perspectives, especially around law, culture, and identity. I hope this experience strengthens my communication skills and helps me build meaningful connections that support my journey toward law school.

I’m most excited to learn how London’s diverse history and multicultural present shape its political systems, public policies, and everyday social life. I’m also interested in seeing how Black identity and community are expressed in a global city like London, especially through art, fashion, and activism.

Major: Music and Education

Hometown: Chicago, Illinois

I aspire to take advantage of any opportunities presented to me whether with music or anything else while abroad. I believe that by not being afraid to put myself out there and allow myself to truly explore what is out there now that I have a chance to, the experiences I have will allow me to not only become more connected to the art I create but to become a better teacher in the future.

I would love to learn more about the music scene around London, as I do know that the city, along with the United Kingdom in general, have incredible spaces and history for music across several different genres. There is so much that I will be curious about when I step foot in London, and I think that exploring the arts throughout the city will not only allow me to connect with the place but with myself and the growth I want to develop with my character and my dreams.
